BARNES Family History

This interesting surname has three possible origins; firstly, it may be a topographical name or occupational name of Anglo-Saxon origin, for someone who lived or worked at a barn, deriving from the genitive case or plural of the Middle English "barn", a development of the Olde English pre 7th Century "bern", meaning barn, granary. The placename Barnes, on the Surrey bank of the Thames in West London, has the same origin, and some bearers may be members of families hailing from there. Secondly, it may be of Anglo-Saxon and Old Norse origin, and is the name borne by the son or servant of a berne, a term used in the early Middle Ages for a member of the upper classes...

Thomas Barnes b 1777 in or around the Carolinas d1851 in Tennessee. Using ydna through the Irish mapping group on ftdna, points to either origins around limerick or Antrim county. Not related to Brinsley Barnes who came to the Carolinas. Not sure if there was a name change at some point.

Novlette Antoinette Barne

My Name is Novlette Antoinette Barnes

Susan Lalor

My 4th great grandmother was born in Kinsale in 1807. Elizabeth Barnes may have married James Anderson in Ireland and they settled in Brooklyn, NY's 5th ward, eventually the 12th.. I looked at an Irish genealogy page and found a Jeremiah Barnes on Market Lane, Market lots. Are there any Barnses still in Kinsale? If I can be connected with the gentleman who posted about Parks Barnes I would like to try and find Parks in Census records etc.

My paternal grandfather was a slave born in the united states in Virginia, His given name is Park surname Barnes born January 17th 1863 / death Louisiana 1927
