My grandmother , Lizzie O'Malley was a native of Shanagolden, Co.Limerick. Canon Begley (Vol2, History of Limerick) describes the assistance of a Conna settled in th Limerick area at thecht  O'Malley group in 1658 to the (Geraldine) FitzMaurice of Lixnaw , Co. Kerry, when the Fitzmaurice castle was besieged in a dispute over rent. This O'Malley group settled in the Limerick area concurrently with the family of Des O'Malley (politician)

My Granddad was Thomas O'Malley, the eldest of 12 children, his parents were Thomas and Jane O'Malley and they lived in Foreglass Ballyconneely Co Galway, Ireland, not far from Clifton,

my mother was Mary O'Malley and married my father John Moloney in Manchester in 1953?.
We? spent our summer holidays with our grandparents in Ballyconneely and have wonderful memories of our time there.
I know that some of my granddads siblings went to live in America and England and any connection would be lovely.
My mother was the eldest of four children: Mary, Brede, Peggy and Tommy O'Malley,.
If anyone thinks we could be related, please get in touch xx??

Hello, I'd like to get in touch with Mary Gilmartin, and have lost her contact information. I will be in Mayo again next summer. Mary is a cousin I met on a trip to Ireland in the 1990s. Her mother lived in Killerduff then Mary and husband and three children lived in Ballina. My grandmother was Agnes O'Malley, (then Malley): her father and three brothers, emigrated to Minneapolis-St Paul in the late 1860s. Maybe you have an email or phone for Mary?

My birth name is Roberta Ann O'Malley, and I was born in India in 1941. My father was Patrick Charles O'Malley and he was born in India in 1914, his father and grandfather were also born in India.  I have put together a family history to find out the ancestor who first went to India. I have gone back to a William O'Malley born in 1822 in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo.  However, I have not been able to confirm his birth date or place of birth. I believe he enlisted with the 71st Highland Regt of Foot (Light Infantry) ??and served in India.

Can anyone confirm this information? ?

I am very Irish and I have been trying to trace my Paternal Irish Grandmother Mary Callaghan's ancestors. On a DNA website, someone mentioned it looks like I am related to a Finnbar O'Malley from Cork. But they gave no dates or anything else. Might anyone have a clue who Finnbar is? Thanks,

My 3x great-grandparents were John and Mary Ann Clancy O'Malley (O'Maley). John was from the Amigan area in Co. Limerick and Mary Ann was reportedly from Ballingarry Co. Limerick. The family came to the USA by 1849 and are in New Jersey in 1850 census. By 1860 they were in Bureau County Illinois and in 1870 in Cherokee County Kansas. Can anyone connect with this family? Joh and Mary Ann's children--Patrick, Johanna Coman, Michael (my great-great-grandfather), Catherine Lawler, Mary Kennedy, Ellen Kennedy, John, James, Frances (Fannie) Fleming and David.

    Brendan O'Malley

From Brendan O'Malley to JC Lalumière. There were a number of O'Malleys who went to France at different times in history, so their descendants could possibly have changed the name to a more French spelling. One was Colonel Austin O'Malley, who left Ireland after the rebellion in 1798. He had served under the French General Humbert at the battles of Killala and Ballinamuck in Ireland and he went on to fight in Napoleon's Irish brigade. He married a French woman and had two sons, one of whom, Augustin-Andre O'Malley, became a General in the French army and ended his career as commander of the military garrison in Marseille. I have not been able to discover if he had any children. There was also Charles O'Malley who served under Charles ii of england and died in exile at St-Germain-en-Laye and his 5 brothers who entered foreign service in Europe. One fought the Turks in the forces of the Emperor and became a general. I'm sure here were others. I have heard that the Maille family (who make mustard, among other things) have refuted any connection with Ireland, but I know nothing of the Aumailleys. If you have any information on them, please contact me at [email protected]

    Mary Kay O'Malley

In the 1800's 7 brothers emigrated to the USA and homesteaded the area around Perry, Iowa. Our family is descended from the brother named Martin. My great grandfather, James F. O'Malley died after his car was struck by a train around 1919 and my grandfather, also James F., farmed until the depression when he moved his family including my father, you guessed it James F., to Kansas City, Missouri. My father was a doctor in Kansas City and passed away in 2012. Ii am one of 7 kids and my parents already have 31 great grandchildren with more likely to follow. God bless all the O'Malleys, a proud and prosperous clan! BTW my mother's clan of mccormicks, Fitzgibbons and Quinlans came from Mayo and Donegal.

    Leslie O’Malley

Leslie O’Malley My O’Malleys came from Steelaun/Rathfran in County Mayo. The earliest ancestor I can find was Patrick O’Malley. He was married several times but I am descended from Maria McHale. Their son Martin married Maria Weir and was also a carpenter in Steelaun. Their son “Big Mick” (5’10”) came to NYC, married Annie Kearney and they had a son Michael born Christmas Day, 1910. Shortly after the Titanic went down, the family return to Steelaun and then settled in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. I am the daughter of Michael Stephan Christopher O’Malley and Florence Scanlon, born in Carrownagh, County Sligo.

I am having tremendous problems finding where my father came from. I do know he ( John James O’Malley) was born in Donegal in 1915 but all my research has failed to show anybody of that name born in 1915 in Donegal. There is someone born in 1913 of a similar name but the date of birth on my father’s death certificate and marriage certificate have to align with a birth certificate date of birth so I can get an Irish Passport. Even my DNA says Donegal!

My grandmother was Delia O'Malley from Peter Street, Westport (Mayo). She married Jim Lyons from High Street, Westport and they had five children. My mother is the third eldest. Is there anyone on here who might be related? I'm having trouble finding Delia's birth or baptismal records, though I have found details of her marriage and also some old censuses. She and I were said to share the same birthday (10th June), but the year of her birth has been given as 1892, 3 and 4. I can't find anything under any of those years.

To Jezreel Lopez, It would be great if you joined the O'Malley project on FTDNA (www.ftdna.com). You can upload your family tree and look for DNA matches to all the O'Malleys who are part of the project. We are trying to identify a DNA signature for descendants of Grace O'Malley, so your family tree and DNA analysis would be a great help. Regards Brendan O'Malley (Co-Administrator)

I just discovered my connection to my long lost Irish roots! Grace O’Malley, the infamous pirate queen, was my 15th great grandmother through her second husband Bourke. I’ve been to Ireland and have always loved it, and the golden age of piracy was always a fascination for me! I hope one day I can return to see all of the O’Malley sites now that I know my heritage ??
